The new Toronto Real Estate district of Sheridan (formerly know as part of W13) comprises of three neighbourhoods. The three neighbourhoods are Sheridan Homelands, Sherwood Forrest and the Mississauga Golf & Country Club along Mississauga Road. The Toronto Real Estate board decided to rename the districts using the names that the municipalities used for the communities/neighbourhoods. The reasoning behind this change was to make it easier for the consumer and real estate agents to search for real estate listings. Moving to neighbourhoods will allow for more precise searches and relevant data. The goal was to improve the search capabilities within the MLS Realtor.ca system.
The community of Sheridan is located in west central Mississauga, bound by the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) and the Sheridan Park Commercial District on the south. The Credit River on the east, Dundas Street on the north boundary and Oakville/Winston Churchill Blvd acings as the west boundary.
What attracts homeowners to this community is its mature trees, generous lot size, numerous neighbourhood parks and green space. This community is also within walking distance or a quick bus ride to the Mississauga Campus of the University of Toronto.
Another attraction for consumers is the quick access to the QEW and the Go train for an easy commute to downtown Toronto.
Sheridan is one of the few communities in Mississauga that is comprised mainly of detached homes. There is a large range of styles of detached homes in Sheridan. Along Mississauga Road typically you will see larger luxury homes with generous lots along with a smattering of older, smaller detached homes. Sherwood Forrest also offers larger executive style homes on large lots, this neighbourhood was established in the mid 1970s and Sherwood Forrest Shopping Village is the hub of this neighbourhood. Sherwood Forrest Shopping Village offers a lovely choice of restaurants, retail shops and services such as hair salon, spa and florist.
Sheridan Homelands detached homes are typically smaller detached homes built mostly in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The lot size in this neighbourhood range typically 50-60 feet wide by 120-150 deep with some exceptions of larger lots. Sheridan Homelands also has a small pocket of semi-detached homes and a handful of condo town homes and apartments.
